about the artist
I was born and grew up in South Carolina, USA, of parents from South Carolina and Missouri. I live and work in Massachusetts now. I have been making art for 20+ years, and showing for about 14.
I make mostly non-representational watercolor paintings, but also do printmaking and a good bit of black & white drawing, and a very little bit of self- and other portraits in pen or pencil. I do a good bit of photography, but have not yet displayed this work.
I worked in software systems technical writing and test engineering before dedicating myself full time to making art. Before that, my formal education included undergraduate degrees in English and Cultural Anthropology, with a focus on Ethnography of Communication, and concentrations in Linguistics and East Asian Studies.
I have a painting studio, and a printmaking press, a Polymetaal JSV50, and I show in various locations. I also teach small classes.
I belong to a number of art associations, including Cambridgeport Artists Open Studios, Brickbottom Artists Association, Fuller Museum Artists Circle, and the Women's Caucus for Art.
